The Mission Behind the Work
My mission is to use my lived experience, professional knowledge, and genuine passion for recovery to help others recognize their strength and believe in what is possible. I am committed to supporting individuals, families, and fellow professionals through education, advocacy, compassion, and a whole lot of hope. This work is more than a career to me—it is a calling to create meaningful change, strengthen the recovery community, and remind people that their past may be part of their story, but it does not get to write the ending.

FAQ
Your Questions, Answered
What is CCAR Recovery Coach Academy?
The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy is a 30-hour interactive training that teaches the essential skills needed to support individuals in recovery. Participants learn about different recovery pathways, strengths-based communication, advocacy, goal setting, community resources, and professional boundaries. The academy prepares recovery coaches to walk beside others with hope, respect, and compassion—without trying to control their journey or “fix” them.
How do I become a Certified Peer Specialist?
To become a Certified Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) in Colorado, individuals must have personal lived experience with mental health, substance use, or supporting a family member through these challenges. They must complete approved peer-support training, gain supervised experience, submit an application through the Colorado Providers Association, and pass the required certification exam.
Is previous experience required?
The core of being a Peer Specialist is your 'lived experience.' While no formal medical background is needed, a personal history of recovery or experience supporting a family member through recovery is essential for these roles.

About Me
My journey has not been easy, but every part of it has shaped the person that I am today. I have experienced homelessness, lived through some of the darkest moments of my life, and felt the unbearable heartbreak of losing custody of my daughter. There was a time when I felt completely broken, ashamed, and unsure whether I would ever find my way back. Recovery gave me the chance to begin again—not all at once and not without setbacks, but through one small, difficult choice at a time.
Today, I am a Certified Peer and Family Specialist, Recovery Coach Professional Facilitator, Narcan trainer, Lead Recovery Trainer, and COPA supervisor. I now use the parts of my story that once brought me pain to bring hope to others. My past is not something I hide because it reminds me of how far I have come and why this work means so much to me. I am living proof that people can heal, families can be restored, and even the most painful chapters can lead to a life filled with meaning and purpose. I am not defined by what happened to me—I am defined by the life I chose to rebuild and the people I now have the privilege of helping along the way.
